“Mysterious Symptoms” from GMO foods

GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.

Virtually all commercial GMOs are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. The industry has been telling us that GMO foods are superior in terms of increased yield, drought tolerance, and enhanced nutrition, but it has yet to prove it. In the meantime, more and more scientific evidence is emerging which shows that consumption of GMO`s is not safe and can lead to disease.

Even animals will avoid eating GMO food, and if they are force to, symptoms like infertility, low milk production, and increased cancer rates occur.

Humans are not so different. The book Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods, cites 65 health-risks from everyday GMO-containing foods.

Some of the common symptoms resulting from GMO exposure are:

• Fatigue
• Brain Fog
• Digestive issues
• Arthritis
• Headaches
• Increase of Food Sensitivities

In my practice, I have seen many people with these “unexplainable” symptoms, and simply cutting out GMO foods from their diet was enough to restore their health.

The most common GMO containing foods are:

• Soy
• Cotton
• Canola
• Corn
• sugar beets
• Hawaiian papaya
• Alfalfa
• squash (zucchini and yellow)

More than 60 countries in the world (all of the European countries, Australia and Japan) have either severely restricted or banned the production and sales of GMO`s, but the U.S. is yet to follow. This means that if you do not eat organic, chances are high that you will actually eat GMO food without your knowing it. This is because the industry has sneaked GMO foods into almost all processed foods and in North America, over 80% of food contains GMOs.

Many of these items appear as added ingredients in a large amount of foods we eat. GMOs may also be hidden in common processed food ingredients such as: Amino Acids, Aspartame, Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbate, Vitamin C, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Flavorings (“natural” and “artificial”), High Fructose Corn Syrup, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Lactic Acid, Maltodextrins, Molasses, Monosodium Glutamate, Sucrose, Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP), Xanthan Gum, Vitamins, Yeast Product.

Here again, the simple solution is to switch to organic food to avoid eating GMO contaminated food.

Even though it sounds cumbersome and maybe overwhelming in the beginning, I highly suggest you cut out GMO foods from your diet and watch how your health improves.

I highly recommend you educate yourself on this topic. The movie “Genetic Roullette” is a good start. http://geneticroulettemovie.com

  1. I have been eating italian flour lately and it doesn’t make me have abdominal distension and bloat. When i was in italy, nothing bothered my digestive system. When my daughter traveled abroad, nothing bithered her digestive system. I don’t like what is taking place in this country.

    1. Hi Judy,

Thank you for your comment and I know very well what you are talking about. I am originally from Austria, and when I go back there, I can eat (a bit) of bread without developing any digestive symptoms. Back in the US, I have to avoid all Gluten containing foods as they make me feel very ill. The issue is that in the US, wheat has been artificially bred so that it grows faster and contains more Gluten. Gluten is a protein that is very hard to digest and wheat in the US contains much more Gluten than in Europe. This is most likely the fact why you and your daughter can tolerate eating bread and pasta in Italy, but not in the US.

I recommend you cut out all wheat (Gluten) containing foods while in the US and watch your symptoms subside. Of course, you also want to make sure to not eat GMO foods, as stated in the article.

      Kind regards,
      Katharina
